Analysis And Various Applications of Silver-tungsten Elements In Tungsten Alloys

Tungsten alloy is an alloy made of tungsten as the main component and supplemented with silver, copper, iron, nickel, molybdenum and other metal elements. In the manufacturing process of tungsten alloy, the proper addition of metallic silver is crucial because it can effectively improve the overall quality of the product. This type of carefully produced product is usually called silver-tungsten alloy, which has a wide range of applications and excellent performance. Next, we will explore the key information and various applications of this alloy in depth.

SILVER TUNGSTEN ALLOY

(1) Definition
Silver-tungsten alloy is a binary alloy carefully composed of silver and tungsten. Its silver content is usually between 20% and 70%, while its tungsten content is between 30% and 80%. This alloy has various grades, including AgW30, AgW40, AgW50, etc., depending on the ratio of silver and tungsten.

(2) Properties
Silver-tungsten alloy has a silver appearance and not only has a high melting point and high strength, but also has excellent hardness and solder resistance. In addition, it also exhibits excellent electrical and thermal conductivity, as well as strong anti-adhesion ability and easy processing characteristics. However, it is worth noting that as the tungsten content gradually increases, the hardness and welding ability of the alloy will decrease.

(3) Production process
Due to the significant difference in melting points between tungsten and silver, they are insoluble in each other in liquid or solid state, which makes traditional production methods inapplicable. Usually, silver-tungsten alloy is prepared by powder metallurgy. Specifically, silver powder and tungsten powder are mixed, and then the mixed powder is put into a ball mill together with high-purity nickel balls and water for ball milling. After ball milling, drying, annealing, molding and infiltration treatment, the product can be obtained. The silver-tungsten contact material prepared by this method has a uniform structure, high density and low resistivity. In addition, the silver-tungsten composite material is obtained by pressing a mixture of tungsten containing a molding agent and surface-modified tungsten into a blank, and then infiltrating and sintering with silver, and then undergoing a series of treatments.

(4) Application field
Silver-tungsten alloy materials are widely used in many industries due to their excellent conductivity, welding resistance and corrosion resistance. For example, it is often used to manufacture circuit breakers, power switches, heavy-duty relays, high-temperature resistant materials, and sports equipment.
